One second faster, 57% more conversions
One second of load time can swing e-commerce conversion by 57% – and the biggest leak is hiding on mobile.
Shaving a single second off your load time can lift conversions by around 57%. Recent 2026 data puts e-commerce conversion at 3.05% for pages that load in under two seconds, against 1.94% for pages that take three to four.
The gap is widest on mobile, where only 42% of sites pass all three Core Web Vitals compared with 63% on desktop – and mobile is now 62% of traffic. So the slowest experience is the one most of your visitors actually see.
Most teams treat speed as an engineering nicety rather than a conversion lever. If you have never tested load time against signups or checkout completions, it is one of the cheapest high-impact experiments you can run this quarter.
